Are You Eligible for FMLA?
To be eligible for leave under FMLA, you must have worked for your employer for at least 12 months and for 1,250 hours during the previous 12 months. Your employer must employ at least 50 employees within 75 miles of where you work. Up to 12 weeks of FMLA leave can be taken for a variety of reasons including:
- The birth of a child
- Adoption or foster care
- The need to care for a parent, child or spouse
- Unable to perform at work due to injury or illness of the employee
- Preparing for military deployment
- Recovery from injuries after deployment
